The California Myth Authority is responsible for safe-guarding California in the public imagination. Our humble department has existed since the days of the Bear Flag Republic. We’ve worked closely with everyone from Steinbeck (a noble pain) to Brian Wilson (odd fellow) to help shape California legend. It is our responsibility to seperate fact from fiction (and occasionally blur the line when it’s to the republic’s advantage).
Unfortunately, our records are a little out of sorts right now. We assure you, the bumbling bureaucrat responsible is not enjoying his new posting in our remote Mojave branch office.
We need your help tracking down the myths, legends and perceptions that make our state. There are a great many facts to sort, challenges to meet and myths to update.
At stake is a permanent position at the CMA for the winning team and, nothing less than the good name of the California Republic.
Come to the Gaming Pavilion at the ALA conference on June 28 and 29th to join a team and get into the game.
Are you ready to join the hunt?
Rules of the Game
Sign-up
Join one of the six teams. Find other team members by your team sticker and collaborate if you like.
Find & Complete Myths
Find myths hidden around the conference. Complete them and turn them in for points. The first three players to complete a myth receive bonus points.
Complete Challenges
Challenges will be posted at the CMA Headquarters. Complete the challenges and turn in the evidence for bonus points.
Capture Territory
Capture territory on the California map. For each correct answer your team receives one sticker they can place on the map. Each hour teams earn bonus points for each territory they control. The team with most stickers in the area controls the territory.
Winning
The team with most points wins. The player with the most points on the winning team receives a special price.
All answers must be turned in by 5 PM on Sunday. Awards ceremony at 6 PM Sunday.

For this hunt across the ALA Conference, the most important thing you'll need to bring is all of your smarts and gumption. However it might not hurt to have the following:
